Officers and Board

Our officers and board members are all volunteers, each serving two year terms. The year following each person’s name is the year marking the end of their term. Elections are held at our October meeting, with elected positions starting in November.

Officers

President: Dwight M. Cannon (’25)

Currently living in the Chicago area, Dwight has lived at both ends of Route 66, having started life in the Los Angeles area – he also lived directly on Route 66 for a time in Joplin, Missouri. His first adventures on Route 66 were in his childhood, traveling to visit his grandparents on their farm in Missouri, well before the interstates appeared. Dwight originally joined the Association in 1990, this time around he became more active, concerned with keeping this important part of our culture around for all to learn from.

Dwight also represents the Association as a member of the Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership and various online groups. He can be reached via the form available by clicking on his name.

Vice President: Shelly Scinto (’26)

Shelly has lived in the Chicago area her entire life.  She became interested in Historic Route 66 because her parents and her Dad’s siblings were involved in the Association and were part of many of the preservation projects completed by the Association over the years.  Shelly is an attorney working in the Chicago Loop, a travel enthusiast, and avid traveler – traveling as often as she is able.  Part of her planned travels for 2026 will be the drive with family along the entire Historic Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica in celebration of the Route 66 Centennial.  She hopes to see you in her travels!!

Treasurer: Cathie Stevanovich (’26)

Recording Secretary: Emmy Bates (’25)

Emmy lives in Dolton, IL. Her association with Rt. 66 started with both of her grandfathers being veterinarians on Rt.66 (1 in Odell and 1 in Normal). She and her sister have traveled the entire road and love telling visitors at the museum, when they volunteer, about their favorite places. She has been recording secretary since 2015 and is on many committees.

Corresponding Secretary: Diane Nalefski (’25)
