June 4, 2004, fifteen years ago, our Association took up residence at our current location, 110 Howard Street in Pontiac, Illinois!
Previous to this location, our “home base” was at the Dixie Truckers Home in McLean, Illinois and consisted of little more than a display with some plaques. But in 2003, the late Betty Estes who was the head of Pontiac tourism at the time, offered us the vacant fire house in Pontiac as a headquarters for our growing Association. As they say, the rest is history! Our Hall of Fame and Museum has flourished and thrived – and expanded – all these years in Pontiac!
Our Hall of Fame and Museum is a terrific primer on the allure of Route 66 to whet your appetite for a journey along her storied miles. We hope you’ll visit our facility this season – again or for the first time. Knowledgeable and friendly folks are always there to share stories about Route 66 and our extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia.
Admission is FREE and we’re open 7 days a week (Holiday exceptions: Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.)
