Better Late Than Never…

Pat McElroy’s family accepting the plaque on his behalf. Pictured (l-r), his granddaughter, Crystal McElroy, Judy McElroy, Brian McElroy and, presenting the plaque, our Association’s own Museum Curator and Livingston County Representative, John Wille.

Patrick “Pat” McElroy was among our 2017 Hall of Fame inductees. Unfortunately, there was a mixup with his plaque, so it could not be presented at the same time as the other two honorees at our Hall of Fame banquet on June 10, 2017. We’re happy to report that the mistake has been remedied and the corrected plaque has been obtained.

On July 22, the plaque was officially presented to the family of Pat McElroy at our Hall of Fame and Museum in Pontiac, Illinois.

Congratulations, once again to the McElroy family; and thank you for your contributions to the character of Route 66 in Illinois.

Donations Fuel Our Mission!

Your donation to our Association helps support our efforts to preserve, promote, educate and enjoy Route 66 in Illinois. We are a volunteer organization; 100% of donations are allocated to preservation efforts along the Mother Road in Illinois (never to administrative or housekeeping expenses). We thank you for your generous donation toward maintaining our nostalgic slice of Americana.

The Allure of the Mother Road

Listen to Association member, Route 66 expert and author, John Weiss, describe the allure of the Mother Road. What makes Route 66 a treasure worth preserving? John explains it all.
