Veteran Runs in Honor of Lives Lost - Livingston County, IL
On August 27th, Mike Ehredt, of Driggs, Idaho, will be making his way through Livingston County as part of his 4,522 mile run across the nation. Ehredt is an US Army Veteran and an accomplished ultra-marathoner and cyclist. He is running solo and unsponsored to honor and remember US servicemen and women who have sacrificed their lives in Iraq since 2003. At each mile, Ehredt is placing a small American Flag with each servicemember’s name, rank, hometown, age, and date of death as a memorial and silent symbol of thanks.
“It is my objective to create an invisible holding of hands from one servicemember to the next, flag to flag, ocean to ocean,” said Ehredt. “One Life. One Flag. One Mile.”
Ehredt’s Project America Run started May 1, 2010 at the Pacific Ocean at Hammond, OR. He is projected to end his trek in mid-October at Rockland, ME. For more information on Ehredt, or to track his progress, visit his website: www.projectamericarun.com.
