The Route 66 Association of Illinois

Our mission is to preserve, educate, promote and enjoy Route 66 in Illinois

The Route 66 Association of Illinois is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to preserving, promoting, educating and enjoying Route 66 in Illinois. We are proud that the famed Route 66 begins right here in Chicago and stretches through our fair state for 420 miles.

Our association is comprised of a group of Route 66 enthusiasts committed to keeping the Mother Road and the slice of authentic Americana she represents alive and well for generations to come. Our dedicated members hail from all over the US and many other countries.

We demonstrate our dedication through promoting membership in our association, supporting preservation efforts throughout the state and sponsoring events which serve to sustain and highlight the treasure that is Route 66 in Illinois.

Each year we proudly nominate into our Hall of Fame a selection of those who have "made significant contributions to the character or history of the Illinois portion of Route 66."

Our association celebrates the towns and attractions along our stretch of Route 66. This website provides information to help you learn about Route 66 herself, her history and her future. We provide maps, information, photos and resources to help you get the most from your real life or virtual road trip on the Mother Road!
