May 26, 2009 - A Great Day For Route 66 in Illinois!
Today we are proud to bring you two BIG pieces of Route 66 news!
First, a 1.3-mile section of Old Route 66 southeast of Lake Springfield has been designated a National Historic Place! The 80-year-old piece of the Mother Road will be preserved for generations to come, thanks to the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
Secondly, the Federal Highway Administration has granted the state of Illinois nearly $400,000 for the placement of informational exhibits along Route 66. Start dusting off your historic Route 66 photos!
