Crazy Alaskan's Are Coming to Chicago!!
Will Ride Route 66 to California
Alaska is a great state and there are a lot of things to do but a small group of cyclist have a love of history and also like a challenge. So three hearty Alaskans and one intrepid soul from Sun Prairie, WI are going to pedal their bikes from Chicago to Santa Monica, CA on the Historic Route 66. The fun begins on August 17th and the end will hopefully be around Sept 9th, in Santa Monica on the Pier.
The website that the crazy three from Alaska have created is http://www.stonemeguys.com/ and the riders bio's give a little information into the the reason three Alaskans, who are used to riding their bicycles in 50-60-and 70 degree temperatures are going to show up in Chicago in AUGUST to ride their bikes halfway across the country, including the DESERT!
We have contacted the Red Carpet Corridor group and they are going to save us by having water and snack stops for us. We all want to THANK them ahead of time, we are going to need the water and the snacks, the heat is something that we are not used to dealing with!
If anyone sees us on the road, we will be wearing Alaskan riding jersey's, honk if you think we are crazy, give a thumbs up for encouragement, I am sure that we going to need it!
Thank you, Illinois for being such gracious hosts! We are counting the days!
