The Joliet Area Historical Museum and Route 66 Visitor Center (JAHM) invites the public to a pancake breakfast, held on the Museum’s Rooftop Terrace. Free parking is available at Ottawa and Webster Streets.

On Sunday & Monday, August 29 and 30, Pontiac will host a group from the National Federation of Press Women. On Sunday evening The Press Women will have dinner at Old Log Cabin, followed by a tour of the murals, at 8:00 PM, the Vermillion Players will present the abridged version of the Route 66 Musical for the group and any members of the public who would like to attend the free performance. Monday morning they plan to tour the Pontiac Museum Complex, the Walldogs Museum, and spend some time in the Downtown District.

The Vincent Video Production Company will be filming in Pontiac on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. The film crew will be recording images of the Murals on Main Street, the International Walldog Mural and Sign Art Museum, the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame & Museum, and the Old Log Cabin restaurant. They will spend the night here and then proceed down the Mother Road.

The McLean County Museum of History, David Davis Mansion, Burr House and Vrooman Mansion, and other sites will host Civil War re-enactors, traditional craft demonstrations, children’s activities, musical performances, talks and tours. The Museum will feature a lecture on Lincoln and the 8th Circuit with Guy Fraker and Greg Koos will give a Lincoln in Bloomington downtown walking tour. Lincoln re-enactor, George Buss, will be featured at the Davis Mansion.

The Pontiac Tourism Bureau is proud to announce the major events which are planned for the 4th Annual Red Carpet Corridor Festival, May 1 & 2, 2010.

The Red Carpet Corridor is a 90-mile section of historic Route 66, running from Joliet to Towanda. Each of the 12 communities along the “Mother Road” plans a series of special events to coincide with the festival.
