There is much to do and see here in Illinois, and on our website. Browse the towns along the road, explore our map views of fantastic attractions, visit our online gift shop, read about our preservation efforts, enjoy our member adventures, and join our association.
We hope you enjoy your visit!
Newsletter Update!
We are in the middle of changing newsletter editors and the Spring issue of "The 66 News" is late due to the change in our volunteer editors. Quite a few members inquired as to the position, but due to time constraints and jobs it took longer to find someone to step up and take over.
Donna Meisner of Piasa, Illinois, has volunteered to take over the position. She will be the editor for the Hall of Fame newsletter which will be out in May. She will be assisted by two other volunteers and Bob Borowiak of Lincoln Printers.
The President's View - April 2008
Submitted by Catherine Steva... on April 17, 2008 - 3:59pm.Greetings from the Mother Road!
Spring is almost here and if you’re like me, I am tired of winter. I look forward to my ride down to Pontiac to volunteer, to seeing the farm fields overturned, the early signs of spring such as bushes starting to blossom in yellow and purple, signs that Winter is past, Spring is ahead, and the fun in the sun days are starting! The Red Carpet Corridor is May 3rd and 4th, followed shortly afterwards by our Motor Tour June 6th, 7th, and 8th.

The Great American Race, you say? Hah! That’s a laugh! ! Why it’s nothin’ but a time versus distance event, what the English call a rally. Why, in my day, we actually raced on a public highway – in 1940 – and on ol’ Highway 66, no less. And if you don’t believe that, you can look it up.

What is Preservation?
Submitted by The Admin on January 20, 2007 - 7:45pm.Preservation takes many forms. The size, scope and historical significance is virtually unlimited.
Essentially, preservation is the link that joins the past to the present for the future. Preservation should always emit a sense of time and place.
